It feels like we’ve been working our way here for a long time. Designing, developing, making videos and becoming available for St. Nicholas Hospice Care. For months, we’ve been talking about what Echoleft will do.
Now, it does those things. Echoleft lets you create beautiful memorial websites, accept in-memory donations and run fundraising events. So it’s time to shut up about making it, and start using it.
I’m taking the idea of shutting up to heart, and on Wednesday 20th May, 2015 I’ll start a 48-hour sponsored silence. That might not sound like a challenge worthy of sponsoring, but as someone who has been described simply as “that guy that talks a lot”, a description which made others simply nod their head in understanding, it’s going to be tough. And it gets tougher.
Through the 48 hours, I’ll be taking part in a range of activities that are generally not made any easier by being silent. We’ll be releasing more details in the run-up, but the first thing I’ll be doing is attending a professional networking event to tell everyone about Echoleft. Try describing Echoleft without saying anything. How do you mime ‘website’? This is going to be harder than I thought.
I’d love for you to get involved in coming up with fun things we could do. I understand if you want to make them awkward or embarrassing, that describes a lot of the suggestions I’ve had so far.
Even more than that, I’d love you to get involved by donating. You can visit https://stnicholashospicecare.echoleft.com/events/shut-up-max and click on the ‘Donate’ button. You will be one of the first people to donate to an Echoleft event, helping St Nicholas Hospice Care discover more value in a new tool, and of course funding their excellent work with patients.
I’m really excited to get started, so it’s time to shut up and get on with it. Wish me luck!
